BL Award
MIFA is proud to present the BL Award in collaboration with Beat-Leukemia.org, honoring the best film that raises awareness about cancer.

The BL Award — In Collaboration with Beat-Leukemia
The BL Award is a special recognition presented by MiFA in proud partnership with Beat-Leukemia.org. While the organization was born from the fight against leukemia, this award reaches beyond — celebrating films that address all forms of cancer. From powerful narratives to intimate documentaries, we honor works that spread awareness, offer hope, and bring light to the human side of the fight.
This award is especially dedicated to inspirational films — stories that move us, touch our hearts, and leave us with a renewed sense of life and compassion. It is in this spirit that we remember Alessandro Cevenini, the founder of Beat-Leukemia, whose extraordinary courage, clarity, and joy of life continue to inspire everything the foundation does. The BL Award is a tribute to his enduring message: one of hope, resilience, and love.

Beat-Leukemia is a charitable foundation based in Monza, with a growing international reach. The foundation is doing unparalleled work in spreading clear, accessible, and reliable information about leukemia — breaking down complex topics into simple, life-saving knowledge for patients and families worldwide.
As part of this collaboration, MiFA will present a donation to Beat-Leukemia during the main live show. This donation will come from the submission fees of all films entered into the BL Award, across both short film and feature-length categories. By submitting their work, filmmakers are not only sharing stories that matter — they are also becoming valuable contributors to an important cause, directly supporting the foundation’s ongoing mission.
To learn more, we encourage visitors to explore the multilingual website at www.beat-leukemia.org, where you can find many ways to get involved. This includes supporting the foundation by purchasing Alessandro’s inspiring book, The Secret of Life, now available in English and Spanish, or by watching — completely free — the moving film based on Alessandro’s life, Things We Love About Alex, which tells the story of Alex's fight and how Beat-Leukemia came to be.

Together, through cinema and storytelling, we celebrate life and stand beside those who fight each day — with courage in their hearts and light in their stories.
